Who would have thought I would end up here, of all places, in this glorious world of crafting and sewing. This passion, born out of curiosity and necessity, had somehow managed to turn into something so exciting, I wondered why I never discovered it sooner. Professionally, I graduated as a teacher with a B.ed in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language), which clearly indicates that I have absolutely no background nor experience in design or sewing. The birth of my youngest child in 2009 had me convinced that the continuous demand of the teaching profession did not agree with my family life. Ironically, after I had become a stay at home mum, I found myself in limbo, trying to get used to a much quieter pace of life. Not that motherhood isn’t already keeping me constantly on the move 24/7, but I had this yearn to have something that is ‘my thing’ to define and challenge me. This was when I discovered sewing. Initially, I taught myself how to work a sewing machine to make this little project that came with a craft magazine. Little projects led on to more complicated ones as I experimented with my newfound skills, alongside this patience that I never knew I had. Before I knew it, I was hooked and never looked back. As I am completely self taught, I like methods that are uncomplicated to match my elementary technical skills. And this is what eventually led to the creation of this site. I want to show you that sewing is really not that hard. Nor is it complicated and tortuous as most people have imagined it to be, and I am determined to prove it. And perhaps, I can finally put into practise the teaching skills that I qualified in. I am absolutely thrilled to have this platform to show you a few projects, hoping they will inspire you enough to get you started. As Albert Einstein once said, ‘Creativity is contagious. Pass it on.’
I am a mother to two beautiful children and a darling little dog. My husband and I run a working farm on the edge of the magnificent South Downs National Park, in East Sussex, UK, in which I draw my inspirations from. I am not artistic by nature but I believe that anything and everything can be cultivated if you consistently try.
